Creating videos for the web is part of what we do here at DivergingSoul Media but we also stumble across quite a few fun videos that are made by others too! Here is one of our recent favorites, Happy Halloween:
This summer DivergingSoul Media was fortunate enough to have the assistance of Eleni Maistrellis aka Eleni the Intern. Eleni, a junior at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, worked at the DivergingSoul Production lab about 20 hours a week from June to August. Her ability to learn quickly and to shift gears between web, video a writing project made her a great addition to the DivergingSoul team. Eleni spent a lot of her time in WordPress, writing for our blog and supporting our WordPress based customer sites. She also did video production work on some of our YMCA projects and she helped design the DivergingSoul Media 5th Anniversary t-shirts. A big thank you goes out to Eleni from the DivergingSoul team. All your hard work is very much appreciated and we hope to have you back again soon!
DivergingSoul just got a new batch of T-Shirts in celebration of our recent 5th Anniversary. Look out for DSoul fans rockin’ the shirts around the North Shore, and beyond!
Five years ago, on July 6th, 2006, DivergingSoul took its first breath as a company in the media production world. Founded by Brian Gravel and Matt Molk, the dynamic partnership behind DSOUL began all the way back in 1996.
Brian and Matt met while playing lacrosse at Peabody High School and quickly became good friends. The two always shared an interest in media production and worked separately on their own individual projects as they both pursued BA degrees in Communications; Brian at Quinnipiac University, and Matt at Emerson College. In the fall of 2001, Matt created his first music production. At the same time, Brian created his first short film. Three years later, in May of 2004, Brian and Matt both graduated from their respective college with their BA degrees in Communication. Later in 2004, Brian and co-director George Sloan began production on their feature length documentary, Gutterball. In producing this documentary, Brian acquired the first pieces of equipment that would be used to start up DivergingSoul. In the spring of 2005, nearly ten years after meeting, Brian and Matt joined forces and began working together on an experimental, hybrid DJ/Live Production audio mix. This first project was the start a working relationship between the duo which eventually would evolve into DivergingSoul Media Production. Finally, on July 6th, 2006, Brian and Matt officially founded DivergingSoul Media Production with a focus on film and music. Very soon after its founding date, in the summer of 2006, DSSOUL received its first client, the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company.
In the fall of 2006, Brian and Matt found a third business partner, Zach Pentoney. The three of them worked together to launch a side project called Boston Nocturnal. Boston Nocturnal was a web video series focused on Boston nightlife. The series ended after 10 episodes due to funding reasons however it ultimately became the platform for what would come to be DivergingSoul Media Production. As Zach moved out to Los Angeles to pursue a career in editing, Matt and Brian focused on DivergingSoul and the company evolved from a video and audio production service to a full media company offering web development, search engine optimization and more. The next big step came in the spring of 2009, when DSOUL launched DS2, their digital signage network. Shortly after on January 1, 2010, DSOUL merged with GraVoc Associates to become GraVoc’s official Media Production division. Today, DSOUL reaches another milestone in its history as it celebrates its 5th year in the business!
What is in store for DivergingSoul in the future? Only time will tell but one thing is certain, Matt and Brian will continue to evolve the company and focus on the mission that was put forth back in 2006. That mission is to be a progressive, forward thinking media production company that brings together both professionalism and creativity to every project DivergingSoul takes on. Brian and Matt would like to thank all of their family, friends, and clients for 5 successful years and many more to come!
DivergingSoul has added a new green room to their fully equipped studio! While many media production companies do not house a green room in their studio, we at DivergingSoul wanted to ensure that we had all the equipment necessary to provide our clients with the total package of top of the line media production. With this new green room, DivergingSoul is now able to shoot videos right in our very own studio. If your business is looking to put together interviews or customer testimonials, DivergingSoul is the place to go!
